Like all things, art has grown and evolved. We have learned from the artisans of the past and been able to use and develop their styles and techniques and add new and innovative ideas, techniques and skills to create more modern forms. The same goes for the art of selling. Sales artists have for centuries been seeking more efficient ways of moving greater and greater amounts of their wares.

In days long gone sales people traveled from village to village in wagons filled with an endless range of wares, peddling on streets anything from miracle hair loss treatments to life tonics and the like. Stores emerged, selling items that were apparently necessities for the home or business. The door to salesperson has roamed far and wide selling cleaning products, cooking utensils and any manner of time saving, work saving, effort saving devices.

The world has now turned.

The consumer is now much more educated.

Information on just about anything is now available at the click of a (mouse) button. Forums expose product flaws or praise competition product.

Many sales people now fear this information age as the consumer is now able to refute claims of efficiency or product viability due to the ease at which information is now accessible. This is not the case for the sales professional. After all the true sales professional does not merely peddle wares for the sake of making a commission or sale, there is a much more noble purpose. The true sales professional is someone who is genuinely excited and emotionally involved in the product in the product or service that they represent to others.

Recently I went to speak with a financial planner at one of the major banks here in Australia. I was greeted by the friendly, young (22 year old), energetic man with and ear to ear smile and an extended hand. After sitting with him for nearly an hour hearing all about the bank’s range of products and services and their great ability of being able to serve me I asked the young guy which of the products or services he owned or used himself. His answer floored me.

“None as yet.” he stated.

“But I am looking into them over the next twelve months for myself.” he concluded.

Needless to say, I shook hands with him and stated that I too shall “look into them over the next twelve months for myself.” and I departed with a rye smile on my face.

Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence. Go to a BMW, GM, Toyota etc. car dealership for example and learn how many of the sales people there own and drive the cars that they are selling. Granted, a number of them may have company cars but many will own other brands. Same too for insurance sales people, tool sales people or any other people in the noble sales trade.

How can one be within their integrity selling a product or service without enjoying the benefit of said product or service?

If you sell insurance, own insurance, own lots of it! If you sell Toyota’s, don’t drive a Ford. Drive a top of the line Toyota. If you are a life or business coach/mentor, have a coach or mentor… Have a few!!

The great psychologist, Alfred Adler once said, “I am grateful for the idea that used me.” Know that to be truly successful your vocation must choose you. It must feel like a calling. You need to fall in love with the idea (service or product) that you are involved in representing. You can not be in love with something that you don’t have. You can lust after it, sure. But you can’t be in love with it.

OWN IT. USE IT. HAVE IT!

Fortunately, gone are the days of selling that were here in the eighties. In the eighties sales people would fight, argue and bully their prospects into submission until they caved in and signed the dotted line and handed over their money. With the consumer being much more educated and able to research their potential purchases we are now beginning to see a shift in the sales industry. In turn, the industry is once again evolving. In today’s world, as sales people we must now focus on the need of the consumer rather than flashy sales techniques. It’s now about taking the sales out and allowing the consumer to buy. We call this “Find the Why and Let Them Buy.”

You see, no one likes being sold to. The most common initial phrase employed by potential customer or buyers, whether it be on a car yard, in a retail store or door to door is, “I’m just looking,” or “I just want a quote.”

Now, for a very small percentage of people, perhaps 3-5%, this may be the case. Perhaps they truly don’t have anything better to do than spend day after day looking at cars or TVs or computer or cell phones or heaters, fridges, HiFi’s or anything else. But for the vast majority of people this is merely a throw away line used to dispel the ever present slick sales person that will inevitably wave a magic pen at them and remove money from their purse or wallet.

You see, as I said earlier, no one, none of us enjoy being sold to. Oddly enough though, we all love buying stuff. What we really want someone to understand what it is that we need based on any number of parameters and then have them suggest in their professional, educated, expert opinion which products or services would best fulfill these needs?

You see, you may be an expert in banking or cars or energy conservation or in running a family on a tight budget. But the people you seek out to say… install a swimming pool are experts in that field. I’m sure that if they needed someone in your field of expertise then they’ll come to you. I mean if you are looking for a pool don’t go to see the dentist about it.

Instead of just going through all of the feature of all of the different pools with you would it not be more appropriate to find out why you want it? What you intend to use it for? Who will be using it? How long you expect to own it/use it for?

If we stay on the pool example, why you want it could be for health reasons, recreational purposes, fitness purposes or for training; how long could be for as long as you own the home, until the next Olympics or until the kids grow up; who its for could be the whole family or just on swimming superstar or your partner with the bad back or an asthmatic child. Now is it not fair to say that depending on the answers that are provided that different types of pools could be more appropriate than others? Perhaps a lap pool, above ground, in ground, jet pool, spa pool or family pool/spa would be the right fit?

By finding the why and pointing out the appropriate options we enable the prospect to feel like they are making an informed decision which can then be guided by the sales person. The sales professional then moves away from being the seller of goods to being a “purchase facilitator”. You see, the consumer can not own what it is that you are selling without you assisting them in its purchase. You help them own what it is that fulfills their requirements or needs.

This is a question that every one of our clients somewhere along the journey asks us. The initial answer is always the same. Success comes in many forms… Let’s have a look at them.

In sociology or anthropology, social status is the honor or prestige attached to one’s position in society (one’s social position). It may also refer to a rank or position that one holds in a group, for example son or daughter, playmate, pupil, etc.

Social status, the position or rank of a person or group within the society, can be determined two ways. One can earn their social status by their own achievements, which is known as achieved status. Alternatively, one can be placed in the stratification system by their inherited position, which is called ascribed status. ascribed statuses can also be defined as those that are fixed for an individual at birth. Ascribed statuses that exist in all societies include those based upon sex, age, race ethnic group and family background. For example, a person born into a wealthy family characterized by traits such as popularity, talents and high values will have many expectations growing up. Therefore, they are given and taught many social roles as they are socially positioned into a family becoming equipped with all these traits and characteristics. Achieved statuses meaning also what the individual acquires during his or her lifetime as a result of the exercise of knowledge, ability, skill and/or perseverance. Occupation provides an example of status that may be either ascribed or achieved, it can be achieved by one gaining the right knowledge and skill to become socially positioned into a higher position of that job; building a persons social identity within the occupation.

R. Linton (1936) defined status simply as a position in a social system, such as child or parent. Status refers to what a person is, whereas the closely linked notion of role refers to the behaviour expected of people in a status. Status is also used as a synonym for honor or prestige, when social status denotes the relative position of a person on a publicly recognized scale or hierarchy of social worth.

Immediate Success of the attainment of a goal or plan.

A goal or objective is a projected state of affairs that a person or a system plans or intends to achieve—a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development. Many people endeavor to reach goals within a finite time by setting deadlines.

It is roughly similar to purpose or aim, the anticipated result which guides action, or an end, which is an object, either a physical object or an abstract object, that has intrinsic value.

Goal-setting ideally involves establishing specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-targeted objectives. Work on the goal-setting theory suggests that it can serve as an effective tool for making progress by ensuring that participants have a clear awareness of what they must do to achieve or help achieve an objective. On a personal level, the process of setting goals allows people to specify and then work towards their own objectives — most commonly financial or career-based goals. Goal-setting comprises a major component of Personal development.

The Opposite of Failure.

Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success. Product failure ranges from failure to sell the product to fracture of the product, in the worst cases leading to personal injury, the province of forensic engineering.

The criteria for failure are heavily dependent on context of use, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system. A situation considered to be a failure by one might be considered a success by another, particularly in cases of direct competition or a zero-sum game. Similarly, the degree of success or failure in a situation may be differently viewed by distinct observers or participants, such that a situation that one considers to be a failure, another might consider to be a success, a qualified success or a neutral situation.

It may also be difficult or impossible to ascertain whether a situation meets criteria for failure or success due to ambiguous or ill-defined definition of those criteria. Finding useful and effective criteria, or heuristics, to judge the success or failure of a situation may itself be a significant task.

Whilst all of the above noted explanations are correct in their own right I would like to pose a suggestion. Failure is not a destination but rather a journey or a path. Continued life in itself is a tale of success. When there is an understanding that life is merely a series of lessons that are either learned or not learned, we move into a state of being where success is something that we are living rather than something we are in pursuit of.

You are amazing and complete just the way you are.

Congratulations!! You did it! You’re the most perfect you anyone can be!

My dear friend Ron Prasad is an outstanding coach and inspirational presenter and writer. He sent me a copy of his newsletter today and I wanted to share it with you all. I trust that you enjoy the simplicity of breaking this down.

I am often amazed by the responses that people give me when I propose the above mentioned question to them. When I ask people to tell me who they are, most of the time they tell me their name. That is a good start. Having said that, there is more to you than just your name. There is more to you than just what you do or what you have. There is more to you than what you may think.

That is why I talk about self awareness to the people that I work with. In 2008, the importance of self awareness was brought to my attention by my dear friend, Mr Warren Henningsen. Warren is a self awareness expert, and since that day, I have been paying particular attention to self awareness in my own life, and in the lives of the people that I work with.

Self awareness is about getting to know yourself better. You may be now wondering, how do I increase my level of self awareness?

I would suggest a two step process when it comes to raising your level of self awareness.

Step one is asking questions of yourself. What I mean by that is this, at this very moment, just ask yourself a simple question such as “What is important to me?” Or, if you wish to take it further, you may ask “What are my top five values?”

Once you ask yourself that question, answer them immediately. Write it down on a piece of paper or on a computer.

Then it is time for step two, which is, observe. Observe yourself and see if you are congruent to the answers that ‘you’ have written down. Observe yourself in different planes of existence. Check to see if your thoughts, feelings and actions are congruent to the answers that you have written down.

Ask yourself questions such as “Are my actions congruent to what is important to me, or to my top five values?”

For example, if one of your values was integrity (in the answers that you wrote), and you just found yourself having ‘small chatter’ behind someone’s back, ask yourself this “Am I being congruent to my value called integrity by having ‘small chatter’ behind this person’s back?”

Questions such as these will give you a very clarity on who you are, and raise your level of self awareness.

Self awarenes is all about getting to know yourself better- how do I function, what are my thought patterns like, what are my emotions like, what do I expect from myself, what do I see myself as?

Come up with a hypothetical situation, and ask yourself “What will I do in this situation?” The answer to this question will clarify your level of self awareness by telling you more about how you function. Play around with this concept, and come up with different hypothetical situations, in which you ask yourself the same question over and over again.

Once you get to know yourself better, then only will you be in a position to know other people better.

Raising our level of self awareness serves us in the following way – the more self aware you are:

· The better questions you ask

· The better decisions you make

· The better actions you take

· The better results you achieve

Self awareness is all about knowing the person that is closest to you (that is you).

Self awareness is all about knowing the person that you talk to the most (that is you).

Self awareness is all about knowing the person that affects you the most (that is you).

So, after reading this newsletter, please ask yourself the following questions:

· What is my level of self awareness?

· Must I raise my level of self awareness?

· How will it serve me better, if I raised my level of self awareness.

To find yourself, you must look within, not with’out’.

Warren Henningsen

PS: Please be encouraged to contact me regarding any feedback you have for this newsletter.

Yours in Higher Inspiration,

At My Absolute Success we recognised the need in the market for, not only high quality accountability training and mentoring but for that of high end sales training for sales teams and sales managers alike. The road to increased sales and profitability starts with Senior Management and works its way down the hierarchy from there.

In business, your time is your MOST valuable asset and business should certainly not mean BUSY – ness. How you invest your time is one of the critical keys to business success. With some of the simplest ways to increase your sales, profits and thus your income we recognise this and allow you to do what it is that you are best at…. Run your business.

Sales training IS NOT an expense, rather it is an investment in the current and future economic climate of your business.

Regardless of what you are selling, no techniques – basics or advanced – are unique to your industry. There is the old saying, “Sales is sales!!”

Its not just about being heard or getting your people in the field nor is it about getting your prospects through your door. The most important thing in business in any climate is converting those prospects into bottom line whilst building a lifetime relationship with them.

Most Managing Directors, C.E.O.s and business owners are outstanding at either running their businesses well or at producing that which they produce or at selling that which they sell. Very few are great at EVERYTHING, and very few have the ability to transfer their knowledge clearly and concisely.

Warren Henningsen has been the Sales/Marketing Manager of a number of different organisations and has been in the Sales Training Industry for more than 12 years. A student of all of the most highly regarded sales training courses Warren has added his incredible insights to My Absolute Success’s already fantastic foundation in Corporate and Business Mentoring.

“It is not difficult, nor uncommon, to achieve a growth rate of 300% plus in sales over a two or three month period.”

There is an old commercial on television in Australia for one of the major telecommunication companies ‘Down Under’ that finds a a young son asking his father as to why the Great Wall of China was built. The father, not wanting to admit his ignorance states that it was erected by “Chairman Nasi-Goreng to keep the rabbits out”. The commercial then cuts to the next day with the young boy in in his class room at the front of the class proudly declaring the facts that he had learned from his father as part of a school project. “Connect to home internet” the commercial finishes on.

Whilst this entertaining commercial never fails to get me laughing I find myself looking at my own children and how much they hang on every word that either myself or their mother allow to cross our lips. I recall a situation only recently where our son had been playing the car racing game on my cell phone just prior to going out for a drive with my partner. During the drive he turned to her and said, “Mum… When you see a police car how come you don’t run away from him or run him off of the road?!” When asked why he would ask such a thing he replied, “That’s what you do on the video game on Dada’s phone.”

I don’t really want to address too heavily the whole nature vs nurture argument, but I certainly do want to point out that we are all products of our environment to an extent.

The foundation of all that we are in our adult life is undeniably laid out between the ages of 0 to 9 years. The majority (upto 96%) of all of our paradigms are put in place between these ages. When you hear of the stories of the requirement to get back in touch with the little boy or girl inside you it is the little boy or girl between the ages of 0 to 9 that they refer to. The reason that it is so important to get back in touch with this little one is that it is this little one’s paradigms that need to be shifted – altered – replaced for us to begin living the life of our dreams.

You, your parents, your grandparents, your great grandparents, your great great grandparents and all of your ancestors prior to them passed on all of their fears, concerns, and ways of being to their kids purely out of love and the desire to keep them safe. Ironically, when you keep going back even just one generation there is a really good chance that the people that have passed on the information were more than likely vastly less educated and certainly less knowledgeable than yourself, and yet you allow yourself to be guided (or worse still controlled by) by their judgements or understandings.

Small children look up at adults and adolescents with stars in their eyes, particularly those adults and adolescents that are related to them. They are sponges for both the right and wrong – the good the bad – the empowering the dis-empowering. What they (like yourself) pick up is absolutely everything that they hear and feel from you and those that they look up to. These people include brothers – sisters – cousins – Uncles – Aunts – Family Friends – Big Kids who live in the area – people they look up to on television and in movies (both real actors and cartoon) – people/characters on video games – and a whole plethora of others that may present.

At the end of the day, children take on board everything from everyone that they look up to. It is the responsibility of the parents to monitor what input is provided to them. Video games, movies, television programs and the like are much easier to monitor than the words and conversations that they may pick up from people that we care for and that care for us (and our kids), but take on the responsibility with a passion. We are 100% accountable for how our children grow up. The success of their adulthood is a representation of the level of success that we have had with them in their youth.

Ah….The Joys of Parenthood.

What is Bank on Yourself?

It’s a time-tested financial concept and tool that lets you grow your money safely and predictably, even when stocks, real estate and other investments tumble.

The Bank On Yourself concept uses a whole life insurance policy with some little-known features added on to it that can beat the pants off your traditional financial and retirement planning strategies.

Yes, we said whole life insurance… but not the kind most financial advisors and experts talk about. And we’ll show you the difference in a moment.

Blindly following the advice of Wall Street and financial “gurus” such as Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman got you where you are. Are you happy with the state of your finances? Do you still believe their fairytale, “Buy Term (insurance) and Invest the Difference”?

The simple truth is that millions of Americans are hurting. They’ve lost 30 to 50% or more of the hard-earned savings they hoped would carry them through their retirement years in well-deserved comfort and security. Now, they may have to work for the rest of their lives just to make ends meet.

Bank on Yourself is the best way to invest money if your goal is to safely grow and protect your hard-earned money and have a secure retirement you can predict and count on.

Still reading? Good. Let’s talk about how this method can be used to accomplish a wide range of financial goals.

The highest form of ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about.”

– Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Conventional wisdom says that you have to die to “win” with a life insurance policy, but the financial benefits of the kind of policy used for Bank On Yourself — while you’re alive — make it something you need to hear about. The fact is that this is a type of policy that less than one in 1,000 advisors fully understands, as our experience and research has shown.

Designed properly, it can give you peace-of-mind, guaranteed growth, safety, and more flexibility than any investment or savings program we’ve ever found. Compare them for yourself.

It’s not the fault of pundits like Dave Ramsey or Suze Orman (or 99% of financial advice givers). They, like most financial advisors, were never trained on this. We’re so confident that they’ll come around once they understand the power of this plan that we’ve reserved a special place for their endorsements along with the trusted experts who have already endorsed Bank On Yourself.

We understand your skepticism. If you browse the personal finance section of any bookstore, turn on the TV, or open a magazine on finance, you’ll discover that 99 out of 100 financial “gurus” will insist that whole life insurance is a lousy place to put your money.

But they don’t know how the policies used for the Bank On Yourself concept are different. And we can prove it! Don’t take our word for it – get the facts and see the proof here.

What is dividend paying whole life insurance?

With a whole life policy, you receive a pre-set and contractually guaranteed increase every year. Neither your principal nor your gains are lost when the stock or real estate markets tumble.

The growth in this type of policy is both guaranteed and exponential, meaning it gets better every single year, simply because you stick with it, rather than jumping from one “hot” stock, fund or investment to the next.

To see how big your nest egg could grow, without the risk or volatility of stocks or other investments, simply request your free analysis. There’s no obligation.

Some companies also pay dividends. While not guaranteed, dividends have been paid every single year for over 100 years by some companies – including during the Great Depression.

The power of the Bank On Yourself concept is maximized when a whole life policy has two additional features:

A portion of your premium goes into a rider that puts the growth of your money in the plan on legal steroids, and significantly increases the amount of money you have in the policy available to use, especially in the early years of the policy. Even over the long term, the value of a traditional whole life policy (the kind most financial advisors and “gurus” like Suze Orman and Dave Ramsey talk about), will never catch up with a policy designed to maximize the power of Bank On Yourself.

A feature that allows you to borrow your money in the policy to buy something or invest somewhere else, and your policy could continue to grow as though you never touched a dime of it (because you receive the same guaranteed annual increase, and any dividends you may receive are unaffected by policy loans).

This gives you many advantages over borrowing from a 401(k) plan or IRA, or using a savings or money market account.

When you borrow from a policy consistent with the Bank On Yourself concept to make a major purchase (like a car, vacation, home repair or business equipment), and then pay the loan back with interest, you could ultimately get back every penny you paid for those items, plus much or all of the interest you were previously paying to financing institutions, and then some. It beats financing, leasing or even directly paying cash for things by a long shot.

Bank On Yourself is not a magic pill. It does take some patience and discipline. However, if you have those traits and don’t live beyond your means, the results can be remarkable.

Out of more than 1,500 major life insurance companies, we have found that only a few even offer a policy with all the features needed to maximize the Bank On Yourself concept, which is one reason most financial advisors are not familiar with this kind of policy.

This isn’t taught in the insurance industry training programs advisors seeking licenses or designations take. But there are now some 200 hand-selected life insurance agents and advisors who completely understand the step-by-step process for properly designing and implementing the Bank On Yourself concept to help you reach your financial goals and dreams.

Our company was started with the mission of educating Americans about this proven way to have a rock-solid financial plan, with no luck, skill or guesswork required.

There’s no obligation on your part

The Global Phenomenon, released on Audio Book, Paperback and DVD that swept the planet a few years ago was an incredible awareness shifter that not only opened the awareness of millions of people but brought the possibilities of the Personal Development and Personal Empowerment Industries to the mainstream masses.

Rhonda Byrne, when putting this incredible production together was at the lowest point in her life and utilized the teachings of some of the greatest teachers and industry leaders to create the most widely viewed life transformational product of its kind on history.

There is no question as to the positive effect that this production has had on millions of lives around the world (mine included), nor is there any question as to the strength and power of the teachings of many of those involved.

Unfortunately, due to the Universal Law of Polarity, every positive has an equal negative; every period of light is matched with an equal period of darkness.

Many people around the world are dedicated to ‘de-bunking’ the teachings of “The Secret” suggesting that it was just an outstanding marketing program without any ‘meat and potatoes’ to back it up. The irony is that these people are actually using the teachings of ‘The Secret’ (primarily – The Law of Attraction) to experience the failure, or lack of existence of the Law of Attraction.

You see, Energy Flows Where Focus Goes. If you focus on the fact that something does not work, you will inevitably come to find that that thing does not work. If you are convinced that the Law of Attraction does not work you will infallibly find things to prove TO YOU that the Law of Attraction does not work. Thus you are actually using the Law to prove that the Law does not work.

Now that ‘The Secret’ is probably the worst kept secret in the history of humankind, people are working so hard to prove it wrong or its lack of existence. There is an old rule, “Whether you believe in something or not it does not make it any more or less real.”

Whether you believe in the Law of Attraction (or any of the Universal Laws) it does not make it (or them) any more or less real. Nor does it make their effect on your life any more or less potent. What it does do is allow you to be controlled unwittingly by them. With awareness comes knowledge. It is said that “Knowledge is Power”, this is not quite true. Knowledge by itself is inane, it is when knowledge is applied that it has power. “Applied Knowledge is Power.”

Only when you wield the increased awareness of Universal Law(s) and accept the existence of them will you really understand your true potential and your role in defining yourself. Whether you use them by accident, by default or consciously is irrelevant. It is through the use of Universal Law that all things happen. When you are aware of what you are doing you are able to do things consciously and your ability to do what you want to do is exacerbated.

Just a thought.
